Yesterday, I went to the Tech Museum. There they had hacking classes for 5th to 8th grade. There were awesome stations. It was all about hacking. They had video game hacking, chess hacking, robot designing, android apps, LED and soldering, a station to do with using building blocks on internet, designing and brainstorming about what cool inventions you can make. Last but not least, they had a contest on the best website that was made. In first place, you would get $100 in cash, and for second place, you would get $50 in cash. Here, I am going to show you readers what I did. In this, I did not do :using building blocks on internet, video game hacking, and making your own website contest. However, I did the rest. In the designing and brainstorming about cool inventions, I made up 2 inventions. The first one that I invented was a phone. It is not just a phone, it is a foldable ,touchless, wireless, and electron charging phone. To use this phone, all you will have to do is give it commands and motions and start folding it. This phone never runs out of battery. Because this phone is a touchless phone, it is easier to use for blind and deaf. It has 2 modes. One of them is talk mode, where you give the phone commands by speaking, and the other is hand mode. Hand mode is when you give commands by using hand motions, or sign languages. You can fold it into a touchless laptop with same features as the phone. My next invention was a time machine that could go in the future, past, and prestent. This time machine had a seat that could recline backwards and forwards. It also had a board that had 3 buttons diagonally from top right to bottom left. The one in the top right was the future button, the next one was the present button, and the next one was the past button. It would only take 5 seconds to go to your destination. Now the next thing I want to talk about is chess hacking. In this, we had a prototype on wordpad. First you had to go the chess hacking website, then you had to download it on Mozilla Firefox, and then on wordpad. This was fun and easy, for you can change the rules of chess by turning all your pieces into queens. You could also change the color of the squares. The next one I want to talk about is the android apps. Here you needed an android phone and a computer. Last but not least, you need an instruction sheet. First you had to type what all the information that the sheet provided on your screen. Then you had to delete all of the comments that the computer wrote. At the end, you can connect your android phone to the computer and you can draw on the phone by using your phone. The next one I visited was LEDS and soldering. This is really fun. The instructors gave us a little robot board. First we soldered the battery box to it, then we put an LED in and soldered that in and then we inserted the battery so it could change colors. The last one is the robot controlling. This one needed a laptop. We typed in prototypes for it to move. Most of these things needed prototypes like : chess hacking, robot controlling, and android app one. I hope you readers who have children who are in 5th to 8th go to this yearly event in the Tech Museum. Thanks.

Black Holes
Today, I was playing with my marbles. I made a funnel (by making it not steep) and rolled the marbles. They went in a spiral sort of shape and circled around, even around the hole at the bottom and then fell through the hole.( In malls you would drop the coins on it). Well, do you know that we have something like that in outer space. It is called as a black hole. A black hole is when gravity has a stronger force. You can make a black hole too by using these materials : marbles and a circular sloped surface. Push the marbles so that it revolves around and around until it stops. It will stop when it reaches center of gravity. Center of gravity is the point where something is stable. Because of gravity, we can walk on the ground. If there was no gravity,we wouldn't be able to walk or keep anything in place because everything would be floating around.

Different Styles in Painting
The first style is: Dot Art-We use a stick and poke it in paint and then drop that on the paper.
The second style is: Squiggly Line Art-We use a stick and poke it in paint and use that to make squiggly lines.
Paintings have been dated a long time ago. Egyptians made writings called hieroglyphics. These told stories about how Egypt was like. Their paintings are very remarkable that people are trying to do it. Ancient Mayans made sundials and used that to tell time. The Chinese invented paper and used silkworms to make silk. They were very creative.

When We Went This Day
When We Went This Day
by Aditi Tarkar
When we went this day,
I wailed as loud as I could,
At the sight of my home getting smaller and smaller.
The time that we spent,
Is now all gone forever,
Playing, crying and rejoicing.
I could never get it back,
Because the time went so fast.
When we went this day,
So furious that we had to leave our home,
With a stranger living in there.
When we went this day,
It triggered in my brain,
That we are going for good.
Our house,
Our home,
Is where we stepped feet, childhood and memories there,
In the treasury of living.

Different Versions of Mancala
Last Sunday, my mom, my sister and I went to Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS) and bought a game called Mancala. I am familiar with an older version that my friends and I always play. So when I brought home the game, I played it with my sister and dad and I forgot to read the instructions (as usual) thinking the version that I play would be the same as the instructions. Finally, I played against my mom. We played by the rules. The rule are:
One side of the board is your opponent's side and the others side is yours. Pick which goal is yours. Take any pile on your side and drop it. You should go counter clockwise( opposite way the clock goes). If there is an empty spot, and you drop the last marble that was in one of the piles and opposite to that, if there are any marbles take them and put in your goal. You should have fun playing MANCALA !
